He was filled with fear and uncertainty.

It was a risk signing up for a drama course because, as he said, “I was terrified to get up in front of people, but I really enjoyed the storytelling part,” he explained to People magazine.

He wasn’t that good in college, and quit school before getting his degree. It was the late 1970’s and he still had not made it as a big time actor and was working as a carpenter to help pay his bills.

Even studio executives were not impressed with him. As a matter of fact, one studio official went so far as telling him, “You’ll never make it in this business.”

Imagine for a moment how you would feel if someone told you that you’d never make it in the business you loved.

One day while building a doorway in a studio, Lucas who was casting for a new film spotted Ford. He asked Ford to read for the part with other potentials. Lucas soon realized he had found his man. The film was a sci-fi adventure movie called ‘Star Wars’. This film soon became one of the most popular and successful films in its day, and Harrison Ford’s role as the likable con artist Han Solo would set him on the path to become a super-star.

At one time or another in our life, every one of us is faced with a choice that involves risk. Maybe you want to move to a different State or Country, quit your job and start a business, begin a new relationship or move to a different home.

All of the above decisions involve RISK

Risk is unpredictable and uncertain. You’re going off into unfamiliar territory. You may lose face with your family and friends or you may lose your life savings. You could risk humiliation and criticism, or have to start all over again. The rewards could be great, but then so can the cost.

When you think about taking a risk, people typically don’t like this word in any aspect of their life, especially in finances and buying a car. It’s more annoying when you take a risk buying a car and end up on the short end of the deal.
